Tara's Roses-Calico cat, pastel, flowers
Tara.
My cat.
Brings me roses.
Drops them at my feet.
Where she finds them-
who knows?
But she always knows when I need one.
...lately, she's given me a few.
Portion of pastel, 18 x 23, [NFS, artist's collection]

And, a number of people chose these same paintings: "Perfect Day", "Summer Day at West Beach," "New View," and "April Rainbow."
Thanks to all of those who responded and sent in your entries and wonderful comments.

Grownup Perfume
In high school the first perfume I bought was Jungle Gardenia in an effort to duplicate the unforgettable, heady scent of my gardenia prom corsages. But, later when I was working as a college intern I decided to pick out a perfume to match the woman I had become. It was L'Air du Temps in a beautiful Lalique bottle with a bird on top. Today when I smell the blend of gardenia, musk, rose, carnation and sandalwood it takes me back to that day when I chose my first 'grownup perfume'.

Mustard Field- Czech to Slovakia-landscape pastel
Traveling from Czech to Slovakia:
The train zoooomed.
A slice of yellow pierced the green.
Like the split of the 2 countries.
"They had a divorce," said the man in Prague.
Split down the middle like the mustard field. A little bitter.

August is Popsicles
Forget cake.
Forget candy.
Forget sodapop.
August is popsicles. Cherry, orange, raspberry, lemon and lime...
Give me grape. When I was little, the ice cream man would ring his bell and we'd go flying outside to pick our choice of the colored ice on 2 sticks. One bite of a grape popsicle to this day brings me back to those carefree summers of bare feet, shorts, games and fireflies.
