Dove embrace-painting by Bohoy

Our world is not at peace.

But I wish you personal peace for the New Year 2024.

The earth needs an embrace from the dove which has become the symbol of peace.

Throughout history its meaning also denoted many things:

• It first appeared many times in the Bible representing innocence and purity
• In Native American folklore it was a protector of warriors
• In Aztec and Mexican tribes, the dove was used in wedding rituals as symbols of love
• In Greek mythology the dove symbolizes Aphrodite the goddess of love; sexuality
• In Japan a dove with a sword represented the end of war
• Today:
• Doves are released at the Olympic Games signifying peace among participants
• In certain cultures at weddings and funerals doves are released as symbols of hope
• Political and anti-war protestors use it on posters as a message of peace
• The UN uses the dove logo with an olive branch for their "Day of Peace"

Peace be with you.

Diversitree

Just as the trees, flowers, vegetation, and animals share the earth; so do we. All colors, all countries, all creeds.

We are all ornaments on the tree of life.

Celebrate this diversitree.

Thanksgiving gift

Our good earth bestows a gift each fall.

From its watery bogs pop plumb ruby red jewels, if sweetened, grace our tables of Thanksgiving. Cranberries.

Like 2020 they are bitter, but can be sweet.

Pastel, 17x11

Our stars

The men & women who fight and fought for us.

They place freedom in the hands of the children of the future.

Thank you.

Moonlit night,

a scarey sight,

glimmer of light,

a dose of fright–

Who dares to knock?

Group hug

🎶Altogether now. Altogether now. 🎶

Memorial wreath cast out to Sea

At our beach they gather.
To honor soldiers, loved ones... ordinary people.
Guards salute.
A cannon is fired.
The wreath is cast into the sea.
It floats away.
Far away.
A lump in my throat.
Sand in my eye.
It gets me every time.
