Group hug

Hugs we all need.
🎶Altogether now. Altogether now. 🎶
Friends, family- maybe strangers.
A year of loss, division, unrest.
Keep your loved ones close.
A new year is coming.
Group hug.

Last Hug

Last Hug.
Before the sun will set.
Before the stars do cease.
Before you go to endless sleep.
A moment of perfect peace.

[Our dear friend Viv was experiencing great pain, nausea and sickness from cancer. But when her grandson hugged her a smile spread across her face, and it all disappeared for one moment of true happiness. Larry captured the photo, and I painted it.
She passed the following week].

More tears for flowers

I posted before in this in 2017 and stated "I started this painting right after 9/11 and didn't finish it not knowing that it would never be finished.
Thousands of tears.
For New York, Orlando, Virginia, Newtown, Boston, Colorado, Wisconsin, Seattle, Texas, Little Rock, Las Vegas, Virginia, and on and on and on.
The droplets shed from tired, troubled, fearful, sad eyes should not be wasted.
They must sprinkle the flowers we leave for those we cry."
Yesterday Texas. Today Ohio. Last week California.
Sadly now more tears; more flowers.

On Exhibit...

My painting "Cuba Street" is on view at the juried Arts Fest Exhibit at the Manninen Gallery, Endicott College, Beverly, MA- June 10 to August 9.

Time had stopped.
Just like we had heard-everywhere we found ourselves in Cuba, we felt like extras on a movie set.
Besides the vintage cars, the buildings were revealing portraits of the past.

Some- beautiful Colonial architectural gems that had crumbled from time and the lack of upkeep and money.
Some- vibrant colorful structures that screamed 'tropical.'
And others- visions of poverty.

Watercolor, 11x14, [matted with black 16x20 frame]. $450.

Memorial wreath cast out to Sea

At our beach they gather.
To honor soldiers, loved ones... ordinary people.
Guards salute.
A cannon is fired.
The wreath is cast into the sea.
It floats away.
Far away.
A lump in my throat.
Sand in my eye.
It gets me every time.

Alvin Ailey has dancied back to Boston.
"Revelations" is the must see. Sculpted, athletic bodies swathed in white, ruffled dresses, parasol on high, floating silk ribbons of water. Spiritual and beautiful.

Chicago.
A gradation of greys reaching for the sky.
Misty grey. Shades of grey.
Grey steel disappearing into the fog.
No sun but for a spark of life in a window on Lake Shore Drive.
"Chicago, Chicago that toddlin' town
Chicago, Chicago I will show you around
Bet your bottom dollar you will lose the blues in Chicago..."

Pastel, 10x8, $125.

Maybellene, Maybellene.

Maybellene.
Not the song.
Not the makeup.
But one man's best friend.

A box of Trix,
